Spiced Up Spicy Margarita
Ingredients:
- 2 ounces blanco tequila
- 1 -ounce fresh lime juice
- 1 ounce of Triple Sec or Cointreau
- 1/2 ounce simple syrup (or agave nectar)
- 1-2 slices jalapeño pepper, thinly sliced (seeds optional)
- Secret Sauce for rim
- Lime wedge
- Ice
Instructions:
- Rim the glass: Pour a thin layer of Secret Sauce onto a small plate. Rub the rim of your margarita glass with a lime wedge and then dip the rim into the Secret Sauce (this will add smoke and additional heat)
- Muddle the jalapeno: In a cocktail shaker, muddle the jalapeno slices with a muddler (or the back of a spoon) to release their flavor.
- Combine and shake: Add the tequila, lime juice, triple sec or Cointreau, simple syrup, and ice to the shaker. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds.
- Strain and serve: Strain the margarita into your prepared glass. Garnish with a lime wedge and an additional jalapeno slice (optional).
Tips:
- For a sweeter margarita, add a bit more simple syrup to taste.
- Grand Mariner is another citrus liquor option.
- The seeds in the jalapeno contain most of the heat. If you want a milder drink, remove the seeds before slicing.
- For extra heat you can use Spiced Up Spicy Style BBQ Rub!!
